Learn to provide liquidity
What a liquidity pool is
New to LPing? Eight short lessons explain how it works, with moving pictures. About ten minutes.
A pool holds two tokens, say HELIOS and HYPE. Traders swap one for the other through it, and every swap pays a small fee. Liquidity providers (LPs) are the people who put the tokens in, and the fees go to them.
Pick where your liquidity works
On Helios you choose a price range. Your liquidity only trades, and only earns, while the price is inside it. A tighter range puts all your money to work right around the price, so it earns much more per dollar, but the price leaves it sooner.
Bins: how a DLMM holds your liquidity
A DLMM pool splits prices into small steps called bins. Bins below the current price hold HYPE, ready to buy the token if it falls. Bins above hold the token, ready to sell it if it rises. The bin the price is in holds both. As the price moves through your bins, it swaps one token for the other and you earn the fee.
Shape: how much goes in each bin
The shape decides how your deposit spreads across your bins.
- Spot
- Even liquidity across the whole range. A good default.
- Curve
- Concentrated around the current price. Earns most when the price stays near where it is.
- Bid-Ask
- Weighted toward the edges of the range. Built to catch swings in either direction.
In range and out of range
While the price is inside your range, you earn fees. If it leaves, your position stops earning and sits entirely in one token: all HYPE if the price fell below it, all the token if it rose above it. It earns again when the price comes back, or you can withdraw and open a new range around the new price.
What you earn, and what can go against you
You earn a share of the fee on every swap that trades through your range, paid in both tokens. Fees build up in the position; collect them whenever you like from Portfolio or the pool page.
The risk is impermanent loss. As the price moves, the pool sells the token that's rising and buys the one that's falling, so you end up with more of the weaker token than if you'd just held. A good position earns more in fees than it loses this way. That's the trade every LP makes.
Which pool type?
| Type | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| DLMM | Liquidity in bins you pick around the price, spread by a shape. The fee rises when the market is volatile. | Active LPs who want the most fees per dollar. |
| DAMM | One position across every price, on Uniswap v4 with the Helios fee hook. Never out of range. | A token's main pool and launches, and LPs who don't want to manage anything. |
| Uniswap v3 | Helios' first pools: a range and a shape built from several v3 positions. | Existing Helios v3 pools. New pools are DLMM or DAMM. |
Your first position, step by step
- Get HYPE on Elysium. Use Bridge in the app, and keep a little for gas.
- Pick a pool. Open Pools and sort by volume or fee APR. Read the token's safety report on its page.
- Choose a range and a shape. Start wide, ±25% or more, with Spot or Curve while you learn. The Simulator shows how a range would have done.
- Enter an amount and confirm. Type one side or press MAX, and the other side follows. Confirm each step in your wallet.
- Watch it in Portfolio. See its value, fees and PnL, collect fees, or close it.
Start small. Your first position is for learning how a range behaves; size up once you've watched one through a few price moves.

Getting started
- Get HYPE on Elysium. Elysium is Kinetiq's L2 that settles to HyperEVM, and HYPE pays for gas. See Elysium's documentation for bridging.
- Connect a wallet. Use Connect wallet in the header. Helios asks your wallet to add or switch to Elysium (chain 99901) if it isn't there already.
- Open a pool. Pick one from Pools to see its chart, depth, safety report and the liquidity panel.
Finding pools
The pools table shows liquidity, volume, fees and fee APR for every pool, over the timeframe you pick. Sort by any column, narrow the list to one venue, or set filters on the numbers that matter to you. Every pool page reports on its base token's holders, measured from chain data. Each line is marked fine, caution or concern.
| Check | What it measures | Caution | Concern |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top 10 holders | Share of supply held by the ten largest wallets | 30% | 60% |
| Deployer | Supply still held by the wallet that deployed the token. “Sold all” means none. | 3% | 8% |
| Bundled buys | Bought in the launch block by linked wallets | 10% | 25% |
| Snipers | Bought within the first blocks after liquidity was added | 3% | 10% |
Creating a pool
Anyone can create a pool for any Elysium token. Press New pool on the Pools page, or on a pool's page to open another pool for the same token.
- DAMM
- One position across every price, on Uniswap v4. It never goes out of range and needs no managing: the simple choice for a token's main pool. Fees of 0.3%, 1%, 2% or 4%, or a custom fee up to 10%.
- DLMM
- Liquidity in bins around the price, up to 75 on each side, spread by a shape. Its fee starts from the bin step (0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5% or 1%) and rises with volatility.
New pools are made on Uniswap v4 with the Helios fee hook: a launch fee that starts high and steps down to stop snipers, a fee that rises with volatility, and Helios' 0.1% swap fee.
Swapping
The Swap tab on a pool page, and the Swap page, compare quotes from every source Helios reaches (Helios pools, KyberSwap, Matcha, Uniswap and Enso) and use the best one, or the one you pick. HYPE trades as the native coin, slippage is set in the panel, and the quote shows the route before you confirm.
Managing positions
Portfolio shows your balances, trades and PnL, and every Helios position in the connected wallet with its range, whether it's in range, its fees and its PnL.
Staking and locks
Lock $HELIOS on Staking to earn HYPE. Stakers share part of the HYPE Helios earns, paid out continuously, and the longer you lock, the bigger your share. Claim any time and unstake once your lock ends. The Staking page shows the current lock options.
Lock liquidity positions or tokens for a set time, or forever, so anyone can check them on chain. Locked positions keep earning fees. Locks show on the token's page and on Analytics.
Fees and $HELIOS
Every pool has an LP fee, charged on each trade and paid to the liquidity providers whose range the trade crosses. Fees build up in your position until you collect them. DLMM and DAMM pools can add a launch fee and a volatility fee on top, set when the pool is created.
100% of protocol fees go to buying back and burning $HELIOS: the 0.1% swap fee on DLMM and DAMM pools, and the fee router on v3 (0.05% of deposits, 0.05% of withdrawals and 0.5% of the LP fees you collect). Every buyback and burn shows on Analytics.
$HELIOS has a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens on Elysium. Every fee Helios earns flows back to it. Token contract: 0x792aa7771e4e1bd58f84631c915ae98aef45277e
- 50% · Buyback & burn
- Used to buy $HELIOS back from the market and burn it.
- 50% · Treasury
- Funds audits, servers, partnerships and growth. 10% of it is paid to $HELIOS stakers in HYPE.

Risks
- Impermanent loss. As the price moves, a position ends up holding more of the token that fell. If fees don't cover the difference, you'd have done better holding.
- Out of range. When the price leaves your range, the position stops earning and sits entirely in one token until the price returns or you move it.
- Token risk. New tokens can be abandoned, dumped or malicious. Read the safety report, and remember it only covers what the chain shows.
- New chain, new software. Elysium and Helios are both young. Provide liquidity only with funds you can afford to lose.
Developers
Create pools and add liquidity from your own app, bot or script, the same way the Helios app does: with the TypeScript SDK, or the HTTP API from any language. Both read the chain and return the transactions to sign. Helios never holds your keys or funds.
